Expanded with New Activities!

We took the grandkids to their annual trip to McCalls Pumpkin Patch. Ages 6 and 10. We did skip last year because of covid restrictions. They have really expanded! Many more activities that the kids could do that were included with admission. There are some that you have to pay a small fee for. Still their favorite in burying each other in the corn bin. They have two now in case in case one is crowded. They loved the new apple target practice and the new ropes course, the new zip line. There are new games, so many new activities we couldn't do them all! We got there around 11 and stayed until closing. The food is very pricey, but you can bring your own and they have picnic tables. Not many places allow that. The pumpkins are expensive. We skipped the hay ride out to the pumpkin field. I think it's a very good deal, people who complain about the price don't take into consideration how much it takes to put on an operation like this. Weekends in Sept are less expensive than weekends in Oct, less crowded too. With some planning you can keep the cost down.

McCalls Pumpkin Patch COVID Review

First time for me, second time for my wife and kids. They had been in 2018.

Most of the experiences are open during COVID. Lots of hand sanitizing stations and volunteers spraying down equipment, etc.

Because they are only open during the weekends, and you must pay for tickets online, the place was very busy. Compared to my wife's previous experience, it was 4 and 5 times busier.

There is lots and lots and lots to do. Easy to spend 2 or 3 hours there. We did not do the corn maze as our kids were started to be "done". We plan on doing it next time.

There were a number of fun-looking activities, but the lines were way too long.

The staff we very friendly and there were lots of options to eat all over the place. Good options too. We tried the apple cider slush back by the princess castle.

There were some restrooms in buildings with a scattering of port-a-potties. There absolutely needs to be more restrooms (not port-a-potties).

The variety and size of pumpkins was great. We got a few huge ones and a handful of baby ones.

If you looking for a day-long outing, this is great. My one and only complaint is the crowds. Hoping that next year is back to normal and can spread people out into some weekdays.

We would absolutely recommend going and plan to go again. Would have been 5 stars if it weren't for the crowds.

Stuck in a Rut

Solitario

The restrooms were filthy. It was expensive. The greedy owners did not pay staff to flow traffic. It took more than an hour to get out off the lot!!! It was dangerous and people were angry!!!

I won't go again !

Last night , Friday the 18th . I took my daughter to McCalls to meet with friends . We spent over 55 dollars for two tickets on line so she could go through the corn maze and Slaughter house ! Her friends had VIP tickets that allowed them faster entrance , so I upgraded her ticket for another 15 bucks . Myself and the other parents thought we wouldn't mind waiting What a mistake , their system of grouping by playing cards ( queens, jacks ,tens and so for entrance to the attractions ) ensured we stood for 2.5 hours and seen nothing ! There are no refunds , but they told me if I didn't give up and leave I would get in to the amusements before they closed , or I could up grade to the VIP and get in faster , The kids had been through everything( two major exhibits) Upgraded the wait would still most likely been an hour to see anything . They should have shaken me down for the extra vip cash with an honest warning when I picked up my tickets ! They should have told me thanks for the cash but if you don't give us another 30 bucks we will let you stand for over 2.5 hrs until your pain and give up !

Amigos

So much fun as always. My sister and brother in law with 2 other friends went the second day it was open. Deffently worth upgrading to VIP for the both of them.
Nothing beats the thrill of getting scared and watching others jump and scream.

The only down fall this year was the long wait to go into the attractions. Hence the upgrade to VIP.

Overall worth it and we are looking forward to next year.

Great time

Familia

I took family visiting from overseas there on Saturday and we had a fantastic time.
The young adults working there are a pleasure to deal with.
The corn-mazes are a blast, don’t forget the apple cannons 😱

They do not care about our children...

Familia

I have been going to McCall’s pumpkin patch for over 15 years. I even went before having children. Going to the pumpkin patch and maze has been a tradition in my family for a long time. I have thought long and hard about writing a bad review about a place that I love, I didn’t want to do it at first, but after thinking more and more about it, I have realized that McCall’s pumpkin patch does not care about our kids. At all.
In mid October I chaperoned my 4 year old son’s field trip with his school. We were both so excited to go! We got our pumpkins, played on several structures and we were having a wonderful time with his friends. The kids were playing on the spider web structure and my son got caught up in it and fell off. He broke his arm.
Accidents happen. I am aware of this. I called no less than 10 times over a months time and was told over and over again that Kevin McCall the owner would call me back. He called me once, which I missed and I called him back in less than 2 minutes. He did not answer. I emailed over and over again, even sent a text. The emails, calls and texts were never responded to. I was not threatening to sue, all I wanted to know was if their insurance had any sort of medical pay to cover any deductibles. A call back would have indicated that at least they cared. A simple “is your son okay?” call would have been sufficient and appreciated.
I am so disappointed that a company that caters to children and families really does not care about their safety. They don’t even have the decency to get in touch with a parent with an injured kid. I am sad to say that we will never go to McCall’s again.

Great Seasonal Day Trip

Familia

We decided to do an afternoon field trip from Albuquerque and McCall's Pumpkin Patch was a great way to spend the afternoon! We went through the different corn mazes and saw all their sights to see. If you come hungry there is a plethora of food and snacks to purchase. This isn't our first year but I have failed to do a review in the past. We always buy old fashioned soda in the tin (you take it home for ~$6 refills are $3) Their kettle corn is some of the best, they have $10 Turkey legs and an apple cider shake, we had every intention to buy one but failed this year. They have burgers, cotton candy, and some of the best fudge! There is something for everyone and it is all reasonably priced in my honest opinion. I wish I would have taken pictures but I'm sure there are plenty online. For $13 per person I felt it was a super deal for a great day outside. According to my phone I took 13,572 steps while at McCall's!

Just a note, when you go get there before 3pm. They stop selling tickets at 4pm and their last hayride is around 5:30 or so.
